Still
Markdown notes for the Mac

A quiet place to think on paper.

Still is a calm notes app for the Mac. Every note is a plain Markdown file in a folder you choose, usually in iCloud Drive, so your words stay readable in any app for as long as you keep them.

Still on the Mac: the sidebar, a list of notes and a morning page with a highlight, a quote and tasks.

Plain files, for good

Every note is a Markdown file in your folder. Open it in any editor today, or in twenty years.

Calm by design

The Markdown fades as you type, and the page looks finished while you write. Focus mode leaves nothing but the page.

No account, no cloud copy

Your notes never touch a server of ours. They stay in your folder, and your sync service carries them to your other Macs.

Yours to lock

Lock a private note, or a whole notebook, with a password and it is encrypted on disk with AES-256.

Natural language

Just say it the way you'd say it.

Still understands everyday phrasing, shorthand and typos, in plans and in search. It shows you how it read your words before anything happens.

Plans that land in your calendar

  • lunch with Sam tmrw at 1pmTomorrow at 1 pm, checked for clashes, then booked in Apple Calendar when you confirm.
  • dentist fri half past threeShort weekdays and clock words like "quarter to 9" work too.
  • send invoices end of monthAlso "eod", "end of week" and "next month", as an event or an Apple Reminder.
  • team sync every weekday at 9:30Daily, weekdays, weekly, fortnightly or monthly, and "until 1 December" to stop.

Search in plain sentences

  • notes from last week about pricingEdited last Monday to Sunday, containing "pricing".
  • notes edited today with open tasksToday's notes that still have something to tick.
  • in september tagged travelMonths, "past 3 days" and "recently" all work.
  • pinned notes in the work notebookNotebooks, tags, images and attachments, with no syntax to learn.

New for coders

The notebook your coding agent writes in.

Save any Claude Code or Codex answer into your notes with one key, filed under the repo you were working in. Let your agent search those notes, read your project's context, record decisions and tick off your tasks.
